Terms of Use

日本語版: 利用規約(日本語)
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of LOCKMEE (“the app”), provided by its developer (“we”, “the developer”). By downloading or using the app you agree to these Terms.
In short
- Location is used to detect that you arrived at and stayed at a place you registered. “Always” enables automatic detection; “While Using” works with a manual check-in.
- Screen Time: the app locks the apps you choose, with your authorization, on your device only. It cannot manage anyone else’s device.
- Subscription: 7-day free trial with no payment details required, then subscribe in the app only if you want to continue. Auto-renews; cancel anytime in the App Store.
1. The service
- LOCKMEE is a self-discipline tool: it applies a shield (lock) to apps you choose, and lifts that day’s lock once you have spent your goal time at a place you registered.
- You decide which apps to lock, which places count, and your goal time for each weekday, and you can change or stop it at any time. The unlock resets every morning at 4:00 AM, when a new day begins.
- The app deliberately offers no way to pay to skip an active lock.
- We may change, add, or discontinue features of the app without prior notice.
2. Requirements and permissions
- An iPhone running iOS 17 or later is required.
- Screen Time (Family Controls) authorization: the lock feature requires “individual” authorization for Apple’s Screen Time APIs. Without it, the lock feature does not work. The app targets your own device only and cannot be used as a parental-control tool for someone else’s device.
- Location permission: location access is required to detect arrival at and time spent at your registered places. With “Always”, arrival is detected automatically even while the app is closed. With “While Using the App”, you open the app when you arrive and check in manually. Without location permission, a lock cannot be started.
- Notifications (optional): used for arrival, goal-reached, and reset alerts. The core features work without them.
- See our Privacy Policy for how each type of information is handled.
3. Free trial and subscription
- Free trial: from the moment you finish initial setup you can use every feature free for 7 days. No payment details are needed to start the trial, and you will not be charged automatically when it ends.
- After the trial: the lock feature pauses (any active shield is removed) and you can still view your records and statistics. To keep using the lock feature, purchase a subscription in the app.
- Plans and pricing: an auto-renewing monthly plan or yearly plan. In Japan the prices are ¥500/month and ¥4,000/year (tax included); prices in other countries and regions may differ. The price shown in the App Store at the time of purchase applies.
- Automatic renewal: your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price, charged to your Apple Account, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- How to cancel: iOS Settings → your Apple Account (top of the screen) → Subscriptions → LOCKMEE. You keep access until the end of the current period. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies. To request one, use Apple’s reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Restoring purchases: on a new device, sign in with the same Apple Account and tap Settings → Plan → Restore Purchases in the app.
- Price changes: we will notify you in advance of any price change. Under Apple’s rules, a price increase does not renew your subscription without your consent.
- The subscription is not eligible for Family Sharing.
4. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
- The app is a self-management aid. It does not guarantee any particular outcome (study results, health improvements, reduced dependency, etc.) and does not provide medical advice.
- Depending on OS behavior, signal conditions, GPS accuracy, and power-saving settings, arrival detection and the timing of applying or lifting a lock may be delayed, shifted, or missed.
- Do not lock apps you may need in an emergency or in daily life (phone, messaging, maps, payments, etc.). Choosing which apps to lock is your responsibility.
- The app is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it will always work correctly or without interruption or error.
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from your use of or inability to use the app, except in cases of our willful misconduct or gross negligence. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months preceding the claim.
5. Prohibited conduct
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, modifying, copying, or redistributing the app
- Applying the app’s lock to another person’s device without their consent
- Obtaining, selling, or transferring the app or a subscription other than through the App Store
- Any conduct that violates applicable law or public order, or that we reasonably consider inappropriate
6. Intellectual property
The app and its content — including the mascot “Rokumee” and all images, videos, and text — and all related copyrights, trademarks, and other intellectual-property rights belong to the developer or its licensors. You receive only a non-exclusive right to use the app for personal purposes in accordance with these Terms.
7. Apple-specific terms
The app is distributed through Apple’s App Store, and Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (standard EULA) also applies. These Terms supplement the standard EULA on matters specific to the app (the service, permissions, subscriptions, and so on). You also acknowledge and agree that:
- These Terms are between you and the developer, not Apple. The developer, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- The developer, not Apple, is responsible for addressing product-liability, legal-compliance, and consumer-protection claims relating to the app, and any claim that the app infringes a third party’s intellectual-property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce them against you.
8. Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms we will post the update on this page, and for material changes we will also let you know inside the app. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
9. Governing law, jurisdiction, and language
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute relating to the app is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the developer’s place of business, as the court of first instance. These Terms are provided in Japanese and English; if the two versions differ, the Japanese version prevails.
